re: varnish issues. From everything I’ve heard these frosty varnish effects always come from spray cans which is a shame as they are great when they work well. I’ve had the same experience before. I pretty much exclusively use Vallejo varnish from the dropper bottles these days. Brush it on or use an airbrush (compressor powered). I find the gloss is very glossy (don’t put in on too thick) and the matte is very matte (kills shinyness of metallics down flat). I’m not really an airbrush guy but it is a handy tool for priming and for large models and basecoating squads, the right tool for the job as they say. Hope that helps.
