Quick note: Link “a particular kernel bug” is pointing to a lengthy bug discussion about unity icon. Don’t click on it! Don’t read it! Or you might also feel the urge to punch somebody. You’ve been warn.
    Mine is https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1153627
Basically, if you have Ivy Bridge you can connect up to 3 independent monitors – but you might have trouble with KMS even if you try connecting 2 of them.

Fun Trivia: 3.8.0-18 kernel which ships with 13.04 is the only one in series (both in Ubuntu and upstream) where “non-functional HDMI audio on various machines, even with proprietary drivers. In some cases analog built-in audio is affected too.”
But rest assure that unity icon is swirling in the right direction! In the direction of progress!
If you TLDR’ed bug report and wonder what direction that my be – The Great Leader says it is clockwise.
