Yes, of course UUPC would say that. At the end of the day, he is a millionaire, though. And he is asking for money. If he simply wanted to make sure the phone sold, Canonical could have set up a pre-order site.

@fabsh: I agree with 110% on this one. Either way looking at the IndieGoGo looks the funding will ultimately fail.

Good to see you back “on air”!

All the best to Fab for finding a new role after “The H”. Just keep positive and I’m sure a multi-talented chap like yourself will find something.

Well, its a reasonable worry, and I don’t know how Indiegogo functions, but it seems to me like they could easily put up an “industry backers” option which Shuttleworth could contribute to.

That way he’s not got boxes full of phones in his garage ;)

The whole concept of this being a problem is one of those #FirstWorldProblems moments, where it makes no sense to be worrying about funding because of a few missing buttons on a website.

I think a big detail that was overlooked on Android 4.3 update was the TRIM addition for all Nexus devices. Having TRIM i belive will prolong life in Legacy devices such as the soon to be Galaxy Nexus. Also custom builds such as Cyanogenmod based on AOSP will bring TRIM in 4.3 to all other devices that CM wil be ported to.

If anyone still has one of those that works…. Those Nexus tablets from Asus seem to fall apart quicker than a snowman in the sun… I definitely don’t notice a change on my Galaxy Nexus.

I actually just signed my new work contract yesterday. :)

According to Forbes, his estimated net worth is slightly upwards of $500 million. Where do you have your info from?

Well I’m not sure if this came out right. It was more of a joke from my side.
Cause who gives a fuck if he is a multimillionaire in US$ ?
He is at least a billionaire in the currency of his home country :)

I actually posted it because Mark corrected a journalist once as he introduced him as a millionaire. I thought it was hilarious.

Sadly I forgot where I read this. Google found an NY Times article where they stated him as an “charismatic billionaire from South Africa”.
But I know you will tell me NY Times is already wrong with charismatic :)

To be clear I did not mean to critic. I just tried to make a bad joke.
Thx for an other good show!

    All the best
    Andi

I don’t see how he can claim that. He pays taxes on the Isle of Man in pounds. I doubt he pays taxes as a billionaire. ;)
