I was thinking more 'rope bridges over lava lakes', than just rails... and besides, the distances are pretty short. I don't think you'd need to travel by minecart in the Nether unless you went a REALLY long way out.
Which would *totally* kill the server ;-)
Impressive. Don't worry, it is nowhere near as big as the biggest we had. It happened during the day when pretty much everyone was away. I was at work, and was trying to keep up to date on what was happening. I think it was burning for a full day in the end. Burnt down so much, it was insane.
Your castle is kind of off on a peninsula. Its got to be that person that is building right next to you, right? Who else would walk out of their way for tress?!? Maybe try and find out who that is. Or go and put a temporary sing up at their place saying to check the forum.
Who ever it is keeps leaving stumps around as well. Strange, if you mine a tree, why not take it all? They probably just don't know about growing trees. There is a lot of open land over there. With a few saplings and a few days there could be a ton of wood!
Nah, its not him, that's thels, about the only person I know in real life. 1 he's not been on in ages 2. He knows how I am about trees.
I dunno, maybe it was just a bug or something. Not had any stolen since replacing them this time, putting this up and placing a sign. Oh, and my wolves are guarding it as well ;-)
That's very cool - although, unfortunately, two Minecraft worlds (single player and LO) has almost cost me my job already.
However, if I ever get a large chunk of free time and don't have any side work or anything vying for my time, I'd love to hop in. It looks like you have a cool map!
This is why I'm trying to get exemption from my exams this year, will give me a month when I have NOTHING on :-D 24/7 minecraft playing. I've also been not really on minecraft since I bought pokemon black. Too much uni work, too many games, too much needing sleep ;-)
I don't think I've ever seen any real griefing on the server. In fact the worst thing so far has been those stupid dirt pillars that people leave lying around, or trees where they leave bits of it hanging in mid-air... but that's just me being picky
Trees left without any wood eventually disappear, I think. Thats my experience with them anyway...

You built an underground railway line??? Is there a real railway in it?
Yeah, the tunnel is completely dug out and the railway line from black to orange is complete. Although I haven't been on in two days, so the whole thing might be complete now!
I don't have much knowledge in Minecraft, but this sounds incredibly cool! Is there like a real train that drives on its own?
You have to get minecarts. You can get powered minecarts, but they also have boosters for unpowered ones :-)
You have to provide your own carts though, I think.
I got in there last night. There are now "The GunMonkey Mines". Did you play the single player game Jamba? I did that for about 2 hours to get the hang of the game before I went on the LO server. (Its interesting trying to find resources in between the zombie attacks. I ended up building a series of fox holes spaced out further and further from my home base. )
Oh, and wonder around to get a feel for the LO layout first! The first thing I did (probably an impulse because of the single player game) was build a little home base area. Then I lost it for hours! I finally ended up jumping in water to drown, re-spawned, and climbed to the top of the pyramid. I was then able to locate my little area via my sign post on the LO map. I got back. But, I last all the resources I had gathered are at the bottom of a pool of water somewhere. :? Lesson learned. I'm exploring much slower now.
If you do want to die, just type "/kill" in the chat box. Much easier :-P
