Ok I can confirm that the vanilla build of 1.8.1 with monsters set to off they do spawn only from spawners, using the current development of bukkit this has been fixed. so I'd just wait till the official bukkit come out. I haven't seen any creepers as yet so there won't be any damage to properties

What do you mean, "only"? Mobs shouldn't spawn at all!!
I know! In previous releases if you happen to be next/near to a spawner a mob may spawn, but it would disappear immediately!
Im going to run a few tests on my own server to see if its a bug or a conflict between the server properties and mcmyadmin. I'll advise you if I can reproduce it

According to Popey we won't get ravines and villages if we don't start over with the map. I'm not sure how true this is, any links to prove that that's true?
Well Gomer_X & I found a npc village and abandoned mines on the SW corner of the map...
For some reason mobs are spawning only from spawner blocks in dungeons & abandoned mines so carry a sword ;-)
Well the rail link was placed on the inside edge of the wall, so if the main vertical part was to get a few holes then that's fine by me!
Maybe put it to a vote? Remove most of the wall but leave the rail line intact? I know that a few really don't like the wall, but it was built for a purpose that's now rendered it obsolete!
