After several bouts of sickness and some scheduling issues, we’re finally back! Fab and Dave discuss Hearts of Iron IV: Man the Guns, War of the Spark and how Microsoft has finally made the Year of Linux on the Desktop come about.

We’re back and not going anywhere. Hopefully.

First order of business is Windows getting a proper Linux kernel in the Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 and also the amazing new terminal Microsoft just unveiled. Wat?

Fab talks bread-making. Proofing baskets, sour dough… we have it all!

Dave’s been playing The Hunter: Call of the Wild and Hearts of Iron IV: Man the Guns. He tells us about it. Also mentioned: The battleship Yamato.

We discuss War of the Spark, the latest – and greatest – Magic The Gathering expansion that’s out now. Fab’s been reading the accompanying book.

Fab’s also been spending his free time coding a Magic The Gathering card library app in Django. He’s named the app “Mage Tower”. It turned out to be more complicated than he first imagined.

We end the show with some feedback. If you want to tell us how you liked this episode, get in touch via Twitter, by joining the Sixgun Discord or by sending an email to feedback@sixgun.org. Thanks to Bytemark for graciously providing bandwith for this podcast.

Merry Christmas and a happy Brexit, everyone! We wrap up 2018 in style and look forward to 2019 with a massive two and a half hours long show.

After immediately slipping into a Magic discussion with Dave, Fab recommends Springsteen on Broadway on Netflix to everyone because it made him cry. There’s also a great interview with Bruce in Esquire magazine.

Fab gives a quick overview of playing the Battlefleet Gothic: Armada II beta. It looks quite promising.

Games Workshop has started a video series called Angels of Death. Of course it can’t possibly compare to the original.

They’ve also started a 40K podcast and hey, it’s an actual podcast! Like, with an RSS feed! Wonders never cease…

We wrap up 2018 with a look back at the year and our podcasting. We also make some wild predictions for 2019, because history tells us that this must be done.

Mike

  • Death Company Primaris Marines will enter the lore
  • Another Primarch will surface: Russ, The Lion, Fulgrim or Lorgar
  • Primaris Marines will enter the meta as cost reductions have started with Vigilus and Chapter Approved
  • Hollywood execs decide that it is time to reboot the Avengers and make a new Mario Brothers movie
  • There will be a niche market for pre-apocalypse party sets or survival gear in the UK
  • Trump will be impeached or resign

Dave

  • Microsoft won’t buy Canonical in 2019
  • No Deal Brexit is coming
  • Leman Russ will return to 40K

Fab

  • Microsoft will buy Canonical in 2019
  • The only people in the EU who will even notice Brexit are those ordering from Games Workshop or Amazon UK
  • Magic Esports will be very successful and paper Magic tournaments will profit from it
  • Star Citizen won’t come out in 2019

As part of our pre-Christmas recording marathon, another episode hits the airwaves. This time, Fab and Dave are talking Brexit, Magic: The Gathering, esports and Pokémon: Let’s Go.

We start the show with some inevitable Brexit discussion and wonder what would happen, if Andy Serkis replaced Theresa May.

Obsidian Entertainment has announced The Outer Worlds. And it looks like it could beat both Fallout and Mass Effect at their respective games…

We digest the latest news that Magic: The Gathering is going all in on esports. It then slowly sinks in that the Pro Tour is dead.

This turns into some general Magic chat, including our recent playing experiences on Arena. Here’s the Izzet Drakes deck Dave’s been playing.

To round out the show, Dave reviews Pokémon: Let’s Go and explains what the latest Pokémon hype is all about.

We have no feedback this time as the previous episode wasn’t released when we recorded this one. We’ve been on a mad podcast recording binge.

Dave, Mike and Fab talk Warhammer 40K, Magic: The Gathering and also look at The Expanse Board Game.

Mike’s back on the show and he’s been doing Movember. Just look at that mustache!

Naturally, there’ll be a lot of Warhammer talk in this episode. But we start with Dave reviewing The Expanse Board Game.

After that Dave and Fab discuss Magic: The Gathering some more. Dave reviews Fab’s most recent draft deck and came up with an improved version. At some point the Black Lotus gets mentioned.

Mike then updates us on the latest developments in Warhammer 40K: VigilusDa OrksPrimaris Calgar and other bits and bobs. We talk about the new 40K podcast from Games Workshop.

It even has an RSS feed!

Mike also talks about two Black Library books he’s gotten into recently, namely The Lords Of Silence and Dark Imperium: Plague War. He also mentions Warhammer Horror and Track of Words.

Also check out Karl the Nurgling.

We end the show by talking about your feedback. Like this great submission from Richard Marsh:

On this instalment of GNR, Dave and Fab talk about Fallout 76 and discuss Magic: The Gathering for ages.

We are back from the brink with a fresh episode of Geek News Radio, massively long as always – mostly because we talk about Magic for over an hour.

Fab’s been annoying his neighbours with his boatswain’s call and Dave is back on Twitter. Fab’s also very excited about Springsteen on Broadway coming to Netflix.

Dave re-reviews Rise of Industry. It turns out he was wrong about it last time.

Fab reviews Fallout 76. Oh boy, it’s bad. You can also read his in-depth review on his blog: Parts IIIIII and IV.

Fab mentions Ivanpah Solar Power Facility.

We talk a lot about Magic: The Gathering which Fab recently got back into and also dragged Dave down with him. Mostly due to MTGA.

Cards mentioned:

We really like the Limited Resources podcast.

We end the show by talking about your feedback. People seemed to really like the return of Dan.
