Fab and Mike talk about Heavy Metal, Warhammer 40K fiction, female Space Marines and the changes that are being wrought upon our hobby.
We start the episode with a preview of Operation SOAP, our trip to Sabaton Open Air in Falun, Sweden. Fab will take his motorbike and meet up with Mike and the boys in Copenhagen and then we’ll drive up together. Mike reviews the bands we definitely want to see – aside from the almighty Sabaton, of course.
Mike then goes through the Black Library books he’s read recently. This includes the Eisenhorn short story collection The Magos and the latest Gaunt’s Ghosts book by Dan Abnett: The Warmaster. He’s also read The Devastation of Baal by Guy Haley. Currently, he’s reading Wolfsbane which was also written by Guy Haley.
Fab and Mike then dive into the fray of the discussion around female Space Marines. Especially Fab is not OK with this prospect and we try to analyse why that is. This ends up being a quite thorough discussion about contemporary changes to fictional universes we’ve loved since we were kids.
Who needs consistency within a fictional universe, right?
It's time for a fictional universe set in a dystopian fascistic government to get with the current times. pic.twitter.com/GgY7bNbKDp
Mike returns for an epic discussion of all things 40K-related, including those kids books.
In another entry of an episode we recorded ages ago and just released now, we bring you a special on Warhammer 40K and also our latest #4Feldherren update.
As part of this, Mike joins us once again from the dry wastes of Ireland to talk about all the things that have happened 40K-wise since he was on last. Of course, we also discuss the somewhat controversial 40K children’s books. Warning: Fab Rant incoming! We then reminisce about how we got into the hobby and speculate to where it will all lead.
To wrap up the show, we address your feedback, as is customary.
We end the show by talking about your feedback. Thank you for the nice words in response to Fab’s blog post.
Im right there as well I think this would be one of the only podcasts I would be willing to pay for as well, so much fun, and entertaining. Keep up the good work. Now lets see what else I can put in here since Twitter increased the character limit, I could probably write a …
@geeknewsradio Thank you very much for the probably +100 hours of entertainment so far! I really like the rants and bants and hope you'll make at least two more years, but here's to a few more. Cheers!
Three quarters of the Vier Feldherren unite once again to bring you Warhammer news and some 40K painting progress. And lack thereof, of course. We also talk about an Apple fail and live music.
Fab’s been working on a new look for the Sixgun site and hopes you don’t find it completely despicable. Dave’s also redesigned his site. The SSL errors haven’t changed, though.
We talk about our plans for Sabaton Open Air, also known as “Operation SOAP”.
Tonight we say goodbye to a pot of goblin green that lasted 23 years! Worth every penny… rip little pot of paint, your duty is at an end. 😢 pic.twitter.com/n4FNF4wMgi
