Babylon 5 is not coming to Europe, Kill Team doesn’t have many real kill teams in it, Simon Stålenhag is great and Fab reviews Surviving Mars.

Fab’s work life has been hell recently and Dave is stuck in startup crunch mode. But we nonetheless vow to get back to recording more regularly.

Babylon 5 may be coming to Amazon Video… not in Europe, though. Of course, it isn’t. Fuckers! We still want to do Babylon 5 Babble-On, though.

Fab has become a huge fan of Simon Stålenhag’s work. No wonder, the guy paints amazing scenes. Fab even wants to get a print to hang in his office. Meanwhile, Dave tries to make the French Tuck happening. He also loves this bike.

Dave discusses 40K things: The new Kill Team game, his Everlasting Wet Palette and the minis he bought from Anvil Industry and what he’s gonna do with them for Kill Team.

We then discuss some news. This includes the EU fining Google because of Android and Google’s cloud data transfer project. We also mention the World Cup in passing. Dave also wants to talk about the Tour de France for some reason.

To round out the show, Fab reviews Surviving Mars and we talk about your feedback. If you’d like to play Fortnite 🤮, tweet Dave.

Show Notes

This time on Geek News Radio: Linus Torvalds calls people “fucking morons”, Dave reviews the Google Pixel 2 and Fab plays XCOM 2: War of the Chosen.

Audio on the last episode was sub-par. This was due to a stupid mistake on Fab’s part. Rest assured, he has been sufficiently punished. Ouch.

Just in case people were actually expecting some news from a show that has this concept prominently featured in its title, we start the episode off with some – for a change:

Linus Torvalds yells at security people. Again. (Fab had some fun with this. Also: Finnish dishwashing racks.)

Session-replay is evil.

Quad9 promises to be a secure DNS.

We evaluate Firefox 57 again. This time after we’ve actually used it.

Dave reviews the Google Pixel 2.

Fab talks about XCOM 2: War of the Chosen. He’s preparing another campaign starring his Twitter friends. If you want to take part, tweet him.

As is our custom,  we end the show with your feedback, including this great meme by NiklasMM the Great:

Show Notes

Google has announced things at its I/O conference that Dave has opinions about, meanwhile Fab’s been busy building an interstellar empire in Stellaris.

The Philly police has been spying on people, pretending to be a Google Street View car – badly. Meanwhile, Idris Elba has been pegged to play Roland Deschain in the Dark Tower movie.

In other news: Linux Mint doesn’t come bundled with codecs any more and Schalke bought a LoL team. With Civ VI and Hearts of Iron IV, there are some great games coming up.

This podcast is now available on Google Play Music, if you’re in the US.

Dave mentions the new Hoops mode in Rocket League and asks Fab why he doesn’t like Eurovision. He then proceeds to rant about all the stupid stuff from Google I/O. Fab says he’ll create a Google Allo account called General von Klinkerhoffen. That’s an ‘Allo ‘Allo reference.

Fab talks about the developer console from hell in Doom and then dives into explaining why Stellaris is awesome. You should definitely read this Eurogamer piece on it, it’s dead funny and brilliantly written. Stellaris also has a 40K mod.

As always, we cover your feedback before we wrap up the show.

In Love with His Pixel C

Show Notes

Fab and Dave are in love. Fab’s in love with the beautiful graphics of Rise of the Tomb Raider, while Dave wants to marry his new Pixel C.

Before we get into the show proper, we reminisce about playing Rocket League with some listeners, which was great fun. Even though we were losing a lot. We also would be remiss, if we forgot to mention what we are drinking. Dave’s having coffee and rum on the side, Fab’s having coffee Jim Holden style.

If you haven’t already done so, you should check out our episode on the Belter language with Nick Farmer, who’s the linguist on the team of the TV show The Expanse. If you are interested in learning more about the language, you might want to visit the Belter Wiki. Please help us to create it, as well!

We discuss Rise of the Tomb Raider at length, which Fab thinks is the best looking video game to date. He also liked the 2013 reboot a lot and thinks both Rhianna Pratchett and Camilla Luddington did an amazing job on both games. The new one outclasses the original reboot in pretty much all respects, though. It is great!

Fab is enamoured by Lara’s voice to such an extend, that Dave thinks it triggers ASMR for him.

After that love fest, Dave gives us his impressions of the Google Pixel C. He really, really likes it and has blogged about it a lot. It has some downsides, but overall Dave likes it very much. Fab has other uses for a laptop and is not convinced.

Before we wrap it up, we talk about your feedback. Feel free to ask us questions and comment on the show. Until next time!
