As part of our pre-Christmas recording marathon, another episode hits the airwaves. This time, Fab and Dave are talking Brexit, Magic: The Gathering, esports and Pokémon: Let’s Go.

We start the show with some inevitable Brexit discussion and wonder what would happen, if Andy Serkis replaced Theresa May.

Obsidian Entertainment has announced The Outer Worlds. And it looks like it could beat both Fallout and Mass Effect at their respective games…

We digest the latest news that Magic: The Gathering is going all in on esports. It then slowly sinks in that the Pro Tour is dead.

This turns into some general Magic chat, including our recent playing experiences on Arena. Here’s the Izzet Drakes deck Dave’s been playing.

To round out the show, Dave reviews Pokémon: Let’s Go and explains what the latest Pokémon hype is all about.

We have no feedback this time as the previous episode wasn’t released when we recorded this one. We’ve been on a mad podcast recording binge.

If you have some comments on the show, you can talk to us via Twitteron GitLab or by joining the Sixgun Discord and talking to us directly.

Thanks to Bytemark for graciously providing bandwith for this podcast.

Show Notes

Offshore Mike joins us for a nice long Black Library discussion, Dave reviews Huel, explains Bullet Journal and Fab rants about Star Trek Beyond.

First off: trouble is brewing at Cyanogen. In other sad news, The Expanse is not streaming on Amazon Prime in the UK. Of course not, because we can’t have nice things. To make things worse (or better, if you agree with Dave), Niantic has shut down third party Pokémon Go services. The bastards.

Dave remembers FOSS Talk Live and gives us a review of Huel. What a brave man. Apparently it tastes like cardboard with some extra grit mixed in for flavour.

Huel

We then discuss Bullet Journal, Passion Planner and wank on about notebooks from Leuchtturm 1917 and Analog.

Bullet Journal

Also: Operation Teapot. Wow.

Mike talks about the latest instalment in the Horus Heresy series, Angels of Caliban by Gav Thorpe and we philosophise if Luther is maybe not such a bad guy after all.

Luther

Mike finds out that he is not the greatest private detective in the world when he fails to guess Laurie Goulding’s email address to send questions about starship names to him. However, the questions have finally arrived with Laurie and we can hopefully present his answers in a future show.

We also discuss The Beast Arises.

To round out the show, Fab explains a lot of stuff that is wrong with Star Trek Beyond. For one thing, Idris Elba completely fizzles out under all that makeup. Well, at least we guess that’s Idris Elba…

Krall

We end the show with …you guessed it… feedback.

Show Notes

It’s time for another Geek News Radio broadcast. On this show: Overwatch, Pokémon Go, Brexit and girls in tanks.

We start with the depressing topic of Brexit and come to the conclusion that everything is fucked now. At least our respective holidays in Scotland were fun. With the exception of Fab’s motorbike accident.

A pretty bad bug has been discovered in some UEFI implementations and Frankie Adams looks great as Bobbie Draper. Meanwhile Matthew McConaughey looks amazing as the Man in Black.

Fab has reversed his stance on Overwatch somewhat. Turns out it’s actually a very good game. Fab and Dave have been playing it together.

Winning Team

As requested by the listeners, Fab talks a bit about Snap, Flatpak and AppImage and what each of these do. He also tries to answer Dave’s question why we need this stuff at all. He then talks a bit about Panzermadels, which as a game concept is proper mad. This leads to Dave mentioning Girls und Panzer.

Girls und Panzer

After all of this, we also must address Pokémon Go, of course. It’s the biggest thing to happen in mobile gaming since ever, really.

Pokémon Go

We end the show, as always, with your feedback. This includes a message from Terile, who sends us a lot of statistics on how the world generates energy. If you want to play Overwatch with us, our Battle.net handles are davidmn#2892 and fabsh#2786.
